Free helplines for loneliness are available in United States

Everyone goes through lonely patches. But sometimes, for many different reasons, feelings of loneliness can become persistent. If you relate to any these symptoms of chronic loneliness, you may benefit from reaching out to one of 32 free support hotlines in United States.

  • Increased feelings of stress or anxiety.
  • Feeling lonely whether you're surrounded by others or alone.
  • Increased desire to binge-watch TV shows or movies.
  • A lack of close friends.
  • Loss of confidence.
  • Connecting with people on a shallow level only.
  • Feeling that nobody "gets" you.
  • Feeling extremely tired and even burnt out when you try to socialize.

Nobody is immune to loneliness, not even social butterflies. Loneliness is usually experienced when you feel emotionally disconnected from others. Feeling disconnected from others can make you feel empty, like there's a painful void in your life that needs to be filled.

Taking the first step to ask for support can feel daunting. You may not be sure what to expect or whether you'll be understood. However, helpline staff in United States are well-trained in helping people like you who are experiencing extreme loneliness. You will be treated with compassion and zero-judgement.
